Currently, ZTE's Blade Qlux 4G is the cheapest 4G smartphone at Rs 4,999.
Reliance Jio, which has got pan-India 4G spectrum, today said that affordable 4G-LTE
smartphones is one of its top priorities and announced that it will
launch 4G smartphones below Rs 4,000 by December this year in India.
"Jio and Reliance Digital teams have worked with all the leading device manufacturers of the world to ensure availability of 4G LTE smartphones across all price points - from ultra-premium models on one hand, to entry level models on the other," said Reliance Jio in a press release.
"The combination of Jio's strong initiatives and a supportive global environment, gives me the confidence that we will see 4G-LTE smartphones in India at prices below Rs 4,000 by December of this year," the company further added.
Just yesterday, ZTE announced India's cheapest 4G smartphone, Blade Qlux 4G. At Rs 4,999, the smartphone dethroned Redmi 2 as the cheapest LTE smartphone.
