Fresh
from the launch of the Yi Camera a few months ago, Chinese juggernaut
Xiaomi has now announced a night vision version of the camera. It comes
with a 940mm infrared sensor, that can let you take pictures or videos
in complete darkness. It can also stream content in real time thanks to
the built in Wi-Fi functionality, so you can use this as a home security
solution as well.
The real bonus here is the pricing, with the company only asking for 149 CNY, which is the Indian equivalent of Rs. 1,500.
To
make the camera more discreet, Xiaomi has been mindful enough to keep
its stature small (unchanged from the original Yi Camera). It can record
content to about 5 meters without requiring any light, making this a
pretty capable camera unit.
Speaking more about the
sensor used here, Xiaomi has utilized an f/2.0 aperture lens combined
with 4x zoom functionality. To beef up the native storage, there's a
microSD card slot on board which can expand storage to 32GB. The Yi
Camera has a mic on board, which will let you get audio input as well.
As
far as compatibility is concerned, the Yi Camera works with Android
2.3+ or iOS 7.0+ devices, so you can use this device even if you don't
own an Android smartphone/tablet. The mobile apps will let you stream
content from the camera and even access the images, videos taken from
them.
The company hasn't revealed its plans to
bring this device to the Indian markets just yet, but like every other
Xiaomi product, we expect the Yi Camera to make its way to the region
fairly soon.
